Magazines are a great way for companies to promote themselves and communicate with their target audiences. They provide a wide variety of written and visual content. Plus, magazines are considered one of the best mediums for high-impact messages. Whether your company has been distributing magazines for a while or is looking to start doing so, it’s important to ensure that your magazine layout is done impeccably well for it to be effective.

Essential Elements of Superb Magazine Layout

Here are a few essential elements of a superb magazine layout:

  • Eye-Catching Headlines- Headlines are specifically meant to grab attention. While the words themselves do most of the work, dressing them up with a striking font or color can make them stand out on the page even more. And since headlines are located at the top of the page, near the outer edges that are most visible to readers, they are one of the most important elements of a great magazine layout.
  • Unified Spreads- An effective magazine layout doesn’t treat each page individually. This could be very jarring to readers if the page on the left is extremely different from the one on the right. Instead, the design should span an entire spread, or set of two pages. Spreads need to be designed as a whole, as this creates a more aesthetically-pleasing look and gives the magazine a more organized feel.
  • Negative Space- The last thing you want is for your magazine layout to feel cramped. Creating enough breathing space between lines of text, images, quotes, and other elements on the page will make it easier for readers to digest.
